Quiet solar weather conditions were observed without any significant flaring activity. The X-ray flux remained below the C level. Catania sunspot group 59 (NOAA active region 2532) dissolved while Catania group 60 (NOAA active region 2533) remained a simple unipolar spot. Quiet conditions are expected over the next days with a very low probability for C flares. No Earth directed CME's have been observed.
The rise in the total interplanetary magnetic field strength that was observed at the end of the previous reporting period persisted and was accompanied by an increase of also the solar wind speed just after the start of the reporting period, thus marking the expected arrival of the influence of the high speed stream from the transequatorial coronal hole. The solar wind speed reached a maximum of just over 600 km/s after 19:00UT. The total magnetic field reached a maximum of around 14 nT early in the period. The Bz component was mostly positive but reached some strongly negative values of around -12 nT also early in the period. The magnetic field phi angle indicated a positive sector. Solar wind conditions have meanwhile decayed to nominal with speed around 420 km/s and magnetic field around 5nT. Solar wind conditions or expected to continue to be at nominal levels.
Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to active with only unsettled conditions locally (local K Dourbes 1-3) and a single active period at planetary level (NOAA Kp reached 4 for the 21-24UT interval). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next days.
