Bulletin

There are presently only two sunspot groups observed on the visible side of the Sun, Catania sunspot group 2 and 6 (NOAA AR 2829 and 2832, respectively). Solar flaring activity is low, with only one B-class flare reported, and we expect it will stay so in the coming hours. Available observations (limited due to system maintenance) do not indicate possible presence of the Earth directed CMEs. The proton flux levels remained at background values. The greater than 2MeV electron flux is bellow the 1000 pfu threshold, and we expect it will remain so in the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence is at normal levels and we expect it will stay so in the coming 24 hours.

The in situ observations show the simultaneous increase of the solar wind speed, temperature and the change of the phi angle to positive value, at about 15:00 UT on June 12. The change of these solar wind characteristics was preceded by the small increase and the drop of the solar wind density. All this indicate arrival of the solar wind from the positive polarity coronal hole. However, only small equatorial unipolar region of positive polarity was observed at the central meridian on June 08 and June 09, and no prominent positive polarity coronal holes were observed. Presently the solar wind speed is about 460 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 4 nT. The solar wind originating from the large extension of the southern polar coronal hole can be expected at Earth in the early morning of June 15. During last 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions were at the quiet to unsettled We expect such geomagnetic conditions to persist in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 017, based on 22 stations.
