Bulletin

One sunspots group is visible on the solar surface seen from Earth (Catania sunspots group 58, NOAA AR-2882). The Catania sunspots group 54, NOAA AR-2880 has completely decayed. The Catania sunspot group 58 (NOAA AR-2882) remained magnetically complex (alpha-beta) over the past 24 hours and it produced a C1.9-class flare on Oct 8 peaking at 11:08 UTC. A C.1.1-class flare was also observed near an active region (latitude 33 degree south, and longitude 71 degree east) on Oct 7 around 22:31 UTC, this region does not show any sunspot on the solar surface. More C-class flares are expected with a very small chance of M-class flare.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) has been observed in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was below the 1000 pfu and at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours.

The Earth remained under the slow solar wind speed regime (ranging between 280 km/s and 333 km/) over the past 24 hours. The solar wind parameters (as observed by ACE and DSCOVR) showed an ambient background solar wind flow with interplanetary magnetic field magnitude values returning below 4.0 nT and its Bz components fluctuating between -3.3 nT and 1.3 nT. Nominal solar wind regime is expected to persist in the next 24 hours.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet over the past 24 hours: Values of K-Dourbes and NOAA-Kp index between 0 and 2 were registered. Quiet conditions are expected to remain as long as the Earth remains in slow solar wind speed regime.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 018, based on 22 stations.
