Bulletin

The only numbered sunspot group, NOAA AR 2618, is decaying while approaching the west solar limb. The last reported flare B2.1 (originating from the NOAA AR 2617) was more than 24 hours ago. We expect solar activity to remain on the same, very low level. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The Earth is still inside the slow solar wind with the speed of about 370 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field is 5nT. The fast solar wind associated with the low latitude extend of the northern polar coronal hole which reached central meridian in the afternoon of December 15, is expected to arrive at the Earth late on December 18, or early on December 19. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet. We expect quiet to possibly unsettled conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 012, based on 08 stations.
