Bulletin

The only sunspot visible on the solar disc, NOAA AR 2618 has alpha configuration of its photospheric magnetic field. Accordingly, solar activity is low, with only three B-class flares reported during last 24hours. We expect solar activity to remain on the same low level. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is presently about 370 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field is 4nT. The low latitude extend of the northern polar coronal hole have reached central meridian in the afternoon of December 15. The associated fast solar wind might arrive at the Earth late on December 18. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet. We expect quiet to possibly unsettled conditions, due to possible arrival of the fast solar wind.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 12 stations.
