There are no active regions visible on the disk. Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours, no significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in past 24 hours. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

Solar activity is expected to remain low.

The solar wind speed fluctuated around 430 km/s for much of the period, but began to increase from 7 UT on Sep 9, reaching a maximum of 554 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field fluctuated between approximately 1 and 8 nT. The Bz component was mostly negative, fluctuating between -6 and +4 nT. Geomagnetic conditions have been unsettled to active over the past 24 hours. The conditions were predominantly unsettled, then due to the increased solar wind speed became active (Kp index = 4) over the last few hours (9-12 UT)

Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected, with an isolated active period possible (K=4) in the afternoon of Sep 9 if the observed increase in the solar wind speed persists.
