Solar activity was at low levels over the past 24 hours. There are no numbered regions on the visible solar disk. Solar activity is expected to remain at low levels.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux went over the 1000 pfu threshold shortly around 15:00 UT on 1 February, it is now below it. The electron flux is expected to go above this alert level for the next period. The 24h electron fluence was mostly at moderate levels, it is now at normal levels. The electron fluence is expected to increase in the next 24 h.
Over the past 24 hours, the solar wind speed ranged between 320 and 550 km/s (DSCOVR). The total magnetic field strength fluctuated between 0 and 20 nT. Bz had a minimum value of -13 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field changed polarity at 23:00 UT on 1 February, it is now directed towards the Sun (negative polarity). The Earth is under the influence of the high-speed solar wind stream associated with the elongated negative polarity coronal hole that began to cross the central meridian on Jan 28. The solar wind speed is expected to remain elevated for the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions reached active levels (NOAA Kp recorded values between 0-4, local k Dourbes between 1-4). Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be unsettled to active in the next 24 hours.
