A single C1.9 flare was observed at 10:02 UT on 8 June from a region behind the east limb. Catania sunspot groups 69 and 76 (resp NOAA ARs 2080 and 2085) have grown in size and number of sunspots. A halo CME was observed in LASCO/C2 and STEREO A & B COR2 coronagraphic imagery with first measurement in LASCO/C2 at 3:24 UT on 8 June. The CME is mainly propagating to the west of the Sun-Earth line, but further analysis is needed to determine whether this CME has an Earth-bound component. C-class flaring activity is expected for the next 48 hours, with an increasing chance for M-class flaring, especially from Catania groups 69 and 76. ACE observed a shock in the solar wind speed at 16:10 UT on 7 June, with simultaneous increases in speed, density, temperature and magnitude of IMF. The magnitude of the IMF went first to 15 nT, reached a maximum of 29 nT at 6:55 UT and has now dropped to about 15 nT again. The Bz-component was fluctuating between negative and positive values. Local K-index at Dourbes went to K=5 and estimated NOAA Kp even reached K=6 on the UT morning of 8 June. The solar wind speed increased from 340 km/s to 550 km/s. The shock is probably related to the arrival of a glancing blow of the 4 June CME. Geomagnetic storm conditions are expected to continue in the next few hours and will return then to quiet to unsettled conditions on 9 June.
