Six regions are visible at the frontside of the solar disk. Five C-class flares were observed in the past 24 hours, occuring in Catania sunspot regions 84, 79, 85 and 83 (NOAA active regions 2364, 2360, 2365, 2366 respectively) and a new region that is currently at the East limb (S20). The most interesting event was a C2.8 flare (peaking at 20:06 UT on June 9), following the eruption of a small filament at the location of Catania 84. A coronal dimming was visible as well in SDO/AIA images. An associated partial halo CME was detected by SOHO/LASCO. It first appeared in the LASCO C2 field of view at 20:24 UT and had an apparent angular width of around 180 degrees. The CME has components travelling (mainly to the East) with a projected speed around 1000 km/s. The arrival of a glancing blow at Earth is possible with an estimated arrival time of 0:00 UT on June 12.
Earth still experiences the influence of a negative polarity high speed stream. The solar wind speed is mostly around 600 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude obtains average values around 5 nT. Quiet to unsettled (K= 1 to 3) geomagnetic conditions are obtained, both at local (K Dourbes) and global (NOAA estimated Kp) level. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected, till the potential arrival of the June 9 CME enhances the activity.
