Over the past 24 hours, solar activity was at the low level. The largest flare was a C6.3-class flare produced by Catania group 42 (NOAA region 2671) with a peak-time at 15:16UT August, 27. The photospheric magnetic field of Catania group 43 (NOAA region 2672) is slowly decaying from Beta-Gamma to Beta (Fai to Cao McIntosh Class), and Catania group 42 (NOAA region 2671) will disappear behind the solar West limb in a couple of hours. Therefore, solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with a small probability of 10% of C-class flares.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in available coronagraph imagery.
The solar protons remained at background level in the past 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours, the solar wind speed was around 330 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field strength remained around 5 nT with the component Bz fluctuating between -10 to 3 nT being mainly negative. A large coronal hole extending from the North pole to about 20 latitude South has now reached the central meridian. The associated fast solar wind is expected to arrive at Earth in Aguste, 31 around noon UT time.
The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet with Kp (NOAA) and local K (Dourbes) indexes ranging between 1-3. The geomagnetic environment is expected to be at unsettled to active levels starting from Aguste, 31 due to the fast solar wind coming from the coronal hole.
