The solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours with an isolate B1.4-class flare. Catania sunspot group 86 and 87 (NOAA active region 2713 and 2714) did not produce any flare. Catania sunspot group 86 (NOAA active region 2713) will soon turn around the West limb. Catania sunspot group 88 (NOAA active region 2715) produced the B1.4-class flare, while it continues to grow it did not show any stronger activity as we were expecting yesterday. Flaring conditions are expected to remain quiet with a relatively small chance of a C-class flare.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejection has been observed. The greater than 10 MeV solar protons flux remained at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.
Solar wind ambient environment continued its return towards a background and slow solar wind speed regime. The solar wind speed decreased from about 390 to near 345 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field is at its nominal condition with the total magnetic field strength below 3.5 nT and the southward component fluctuating between -2 and +2.5 nT. Enhancement of the solar wind conditions are expected on June 23 due to the arrival of the fast solar wind associated to the north pole coronal hole that has passed the central meridian on the June 20.
Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet over the past 24 hours. The Kp index (NOAA) ranged between 0-1 and local K index 0-2 (Dourbes). The geomagnetic conditions are expected to remained quiet for the next period until June 23 with the arrival of the fast solar wind.
