Solar flaring activity remains low, with only few A class flares reported today. We expect such a low level of the flaring activity to persist in coming hours. During last 24 hours there were no Earth directed CMEs and the solar protons remained at the background level.
The solar wind speed is presently about 340 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 3 nT. The in situ observations show the shock wave arrival, this morning at 01:24 UT. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude showed simultaneous increase with the solar wind speed, density and the temperature. The solar origin of the observed shock is still unclear. The shock observed in situ could have been driven by the weak CME observed on June 24 (weak eruption at about 12:00 UT followed by the coronal dimming was associated with the slow CME observed above the East solar limb) or June 26 (CME of unclear origin observed first in the SOHO LASCO C2 field of view at about 02:29 UT on June 26). Presently the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field is positive and no geomagnetic disturbance is reported (K=2 and Kp=2, as reported by Dourbes and NOAA, respectively). The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet and we expect them to remain so in the coming hours.
