Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels the past 24 hours. It is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours.
The solar wind speed near Earth varied between 310 and 365 km/s (DSCOVR). The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly oriented away the Sun (phi angle in the positive sector). Bz fluctuated between -5 and +4 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 1 and 6 nT. A coronal hole extending from the equator to southern latitudes is crossing central meridian. Its effects are to be expected from late July 23rd. For the next 24 hours the solar wind speed is expected to be enhanced, reflecting the influence of the coronal hole that crossed central meridian on July 16th .
The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled, while the values registered for the past 24 hours were 1-3 for K Dourbes and 1-2 for NOAA Kp. Unsettled to active conditions (K Dourbes = 4) geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.
