The AR that rotated into view yesterday has been given NOAA AR number 2773, it has three sunspots and beta magnetic field configuration. It has only produced B-class flares in the past 24 hours, C-class flares are possible but unlikely.
No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, it can go above the threshold in the next 24 hours.
Solar wind speed near Earth as registered by DSCOVR increased steadily from 360 to 535 km/s in the past 24 hours. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field is directed away from the Sun (positive) but showed alternating orientations in the past 24 hours. It had a magnitude between 3 nT and 11 nT. Bz reached -9 nT. These values mark the arrival of the high speed stream from the low latitudinal extension of the northern polar coronal hole.
The arrival of the high speed stream has created minor storm conditions both locally and at planetary levels (K Dourbes = 5 at 09:00 UT and Kp = 5 at 06:00 UT), due to several hours of Bz close to -9 nT. The solar wind speed may still go up in the next 24-48 hours, since the shape of the coronal hole is irregular. More active to minor storm periods can occur then.
