Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2780 became spotless, whereas NOAA 2781 continued its gradual decay. This sunspot group still has some magnetic polarity mixing in its intermediate region. Two active regions near the southeast limb are about to rotate into view. Solar activity is expected to be at low levels, with a slight chance on an M-class flare.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels and expected to remain so. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels, reaching a maximum of 980 pfu at 16:15UT. The electron flux may slightly exceed the 1000 pfu alert threshold during the next period, but the 24h electron fluence is expected to remain at nominal levels.
No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. Combined SOHO and STEREO-A coronagraphic imagery indicated that a CME observed around 20UT on 08 November was a farside event. A reconnection event near S25W45 between 15 and 17UT had no obvious associated CME.
Solar wind speed decreased from initial values near 460 km/s to about 360 km/s currently (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -2 and +4 nT, remaining positive after 19UT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed towards the Sun (negative sector).
Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels and is expected to remain so.
