Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. A small plage has appeared on the SE quadrant. Solar activity is expected to remain mainly at low levels, with a low chance of C class flares.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained on high levels the past 24 hours, crossing the threshold of 1000 pfu on Dec 25 13:40UT, due to remaining effects of the positive northern Coronal Hole (CH) originated High Speed Streams (HSS). It is expected to remain at those levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence remained enhanced in the past 24 hours, almost reaching moderate levels. It is expected to stay at about those levels in the next 24 hours.
Solar wind speed near Earth as registered by DSCOVR and ACE varied between 410 and 505 km/s in the past 24 hours. The orientation of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field was predominantly to the positive sector (away from the Sun). Its magnitude varied between about 1 and 5 nT while Bz varied between -3 and 3 nT. The negative polarity CH on the SE quadrant is crossing central meridian. Its HSS influence should be expected about Dec 29. Solar wind conditions are anticipated to continue in at this decreasing trend and return to nominal levels.
Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were registered in the past 24 hours, with values for K Dourbes varying between 0-3 and for NOAA Kp 0-2. Quiet geomagnetic conditions are to be expected in the next 24 hours.
