Over the past 24 hours, a C1.3 class flare has taken place, originating from Catania region 29. The solar activity is expected to remain at low levels, with a small change of C class flares over the next 24 hours.
No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections have been observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold, while the 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours. They are expected to likely remain so during the next 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours the solar wind speed fluctuated between 330 and 390 km/s. The total magnetic field strength had values between 1 and 8 nT, while its Bz component varied between -6 and 5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was predominantly on the positive sector (directed away from the Sun), until Aug 9 08:00UT when it switched to the negative sector. Over the next 24 hours, solar wind conditions could possibly be slightly enhanced, due to the expected high speed stream associated with the negative polarity coronal hole crossing central meridian Aug 5.
Geomagnetic conditions were at quiet to unsettled levels (NOAA Kp 1-2 and K Dourbes 1-3) over the past 24 hours. Quiet to active conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.
