The solar flaring activity was at low levels over the past 24 hours with only C-class flares from several sunspots groups visible on the disc seen from Earth. The larger flare was a C4.0-class flare from Catania sunspots group 53 (NOAA active region 3034) peaking at 11:20 UTC. We expect mostly C-class flares with a small chance of isolated M-class flares.
No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraph images over the past 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was below 1000 pfu alert threshold and it is expected to remain so during the next 24 hours. The electron fluence was at normal to moderate levels and is expected to remain normal to moderated levels in the next 24 hours.
The solar wind parameters in Earth environment were showing a return to slow solar wind-speed regime: the wind speed ranged between 410 km/s and 500. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude showed values below 8 nT. The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field fluctuated between -7.0 nT and 7.2 nT. Two coronal holes (negative polarity) are currently visible on the disc near the central meridian at high latitudes. The high- speed streams coming from these two coronal holes may influence the solar wind conditions and contribute to its enhancement in the next 2 days.
The geomagnetic conditions were mostly quiet with short periods of unsettle conditions (NOAA Kp and local K-Belgium 1-3). The geomagnetic conditions are expected to remain mostly quiet in the next 24 hours.
