Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. NOAA AR 3068, 3072 and 3073 have now rotated over the west solar limb. There are four remaining numbered regions on the visible solar disc, all relatively simple. A new region has also begun to emerge around S18E05. The flaring activity over the next 24 hours is expected to be at very low levels with a low chance for isolated C-class flaring.
No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the past 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux has been above the 1000 pfu threshold at times and is expected to cross this threshold again in the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal to moderate levels and is expected to be at moderate levels over the next 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours the solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) remained under the influence of a high speed stream. The solar wind velocity steadily ranged between 530 and 630 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field reached 8 nT with a minimum Bz of -7 nT. The phi angle remained in the positive sector (directed away from the Sun). The solar wind parameters are expected to remain elevated over the next several days under the influence of the high-speed stream.
The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were unsettled to active levels. Unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions are expected to remain over the next 24 hours with chances for isolated minor geomagnetic storms due to the ongoing high-speed stream influence.
