Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with approximately 10 C-class flares identified. SIDC Sunspot Group 469 (NOAA Active Region 4079, Beta-Gamma magnetic configuration) produced all the flaring activity, with the brightest flare being a C5 on 10 May at 16:21 UTC. For the next 24 hours and although in decline, SIDC Sunspot Group 469 is expected to continue its flaring activity at a C-class level.
No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) were observed in the last 24 hours.
During the past 24 hours the Solar Wind (SW) activity was affected by a weak High Speed Stream (HSS) that only had a short-lived effect. The SW speed initially increase to 550 km/s but has since dropped to 400 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field (B) varied between 1 and 8 nT and its North-South component (Bz) fluctuated between -6 and 5 nT. Slow SW conditions are expected to prevail in the next 24 hours.
The geomagnetic conditions were globally and locally quiet to unsettled (NOAA Kp 1+ to 3+ and K BEL 2 to 3) during the past 24 hours. They are expected to be mostly quiet with brief periods of unsettled levels during the next 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux, as measured by the GOES-19 satellite, was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is likely to remain so in the next 24 hours.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES 19, was below but close to the 1000 pfu alerth threshold. It is expected to drop further during the next 24 hours. The 24-hour electron fluence dropped from moderate to normal levels during the past 24 hours. It is expected to drop further and remain at normal levels in the next 24 hours.
