Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with only C-class flares identified. The largest flare was a C7.8 flare (SIDC Flare 7149) peaking on March 09 at 20:38 UTC, which was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 762 (NOAA Active Regions 4387). A total of 5 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours, all with alpha or beta magnetic configuration. Solar flaring activity is expected to be low over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares very likely and a chance for M-class flares.
No new Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraph images.
Over the last 24 hours, the solar wind reduced to slow solar wind conditions. The solar wind speed was around 440 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field was around 6nT with the Bz reaching a minimum value -6 nT. Slow solar wind conditions are expected to continue over the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions globally and locally were quiet to unsettled (NOAA Kp 3, K_bel 3) during the last 24 hours. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained below the 10 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so over the next days.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux crossed shortly the 1000 pfu alert threshold, but was mainly below the threshold. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to remain mainly below the threshold, but with a short crossing during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to remain so.
