Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels and is expected to remain so.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was above the threshold value of 1000 pfu for the entire reporting period, with a maximum value of 29400 pfu reached at 16:20 UT Sep 02. It is expected to remain at high levels during the coming days.

The solar wind speed continued to decrease, reducing from around 530 km/s at the start of the period to 440 km/s by the end. The total magnetic field remained below 5 nT. Bz had a minimum value of -4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). The solar wind conditions are expected to return to nominal levels over the coming days.

Geomagnetic conditions were at quiet to unsettled levels (K Dourbes and NOAA Kp recorded values of 0-3 and 0-2, respectively). Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet over the next 24 hours with isolated unsettled periods possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 17 stations.
