Solar flaring activity was at low levels with two low C-class flares registered with over the past 24 hours. There are seven numbered regions on the visible solar disc, all relatively simple. Regions NOAA 3068 (alpha) has produced a C1.6-class flare with peak time 23:06 UTC on Aug 7th while rotating onto the west limb. NOAA 3072 (beta) remained mostly unchanged and produced a C1.1-class flare with peak time 22:35 UTC on Aug 07th. NOAA 3076 (alpha) was newly numbered close to the northeast limb in the vicinity of NOAA 3075 (beta). The rest of the active regions remained stable and quiet. The flaring activity over the next 24 hours is expected to at very low to low levels with remaining chances for isolated C-class flaring.
No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the past 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux has been below the1000 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so over the next 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours the solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) remained under the influence of a high speed stream. The overall solar wind velocity steadily increased from 408 km/s to about 580 km/s, reaching a maximum value of 669 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field reached 15 nT with a minimum Bz of -13.2 nT. The B field remained in the positive sector (directed away from the Sun). The solar wind parameters are expected to remain elevated over the next several days under the influence of the high speed stream.
The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were globally at active to minor storm levels with an isolated moderate storm between 21 UTC and midnight UTC on Aug 07th. Locally in Dourbes only unsettled to active conditions were registered with no geomagnetic storms. Over the next 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions are expected to be locally quiet to active with chances for isolated minor geomagnetic storms and globally quiet to active with chances for minor storms and a minor chance for an isolated moderate storm.
