Bulletin

Six sunspot groups were reported by Catania today. The flaring activity was at the low C-class level, and the strongest flare reported was the long duration C3.5 flare peaking at 21:32 UT on April 16. The flare originated from the Catania sunspot group 43 (NOAA AR 1719) situated at that moment close to the west solar limb. The flare was associated with the coronal dimming. The presence of the coronal dimming gives indication that the flare had an associated CME. However, this cannot be confirmed due to the data gap in SOHO/LASCO and STEREO observations. The flaring activity at the C-class level is probable and the M-class flares are still possible but unlikely. The Earth is inside a slow solar wind with a speed of about 350 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 4 nT. The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field is fluctuating with the occasional intervals of its negative values (up to -5 nT). The geomagnetic conditions are quiet and expected to remain so.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 062, based on 08 stations.
