Bulletin

Solar activity was very low with X-ray flux below C-level and only a single B1.9 flare observed from NOAA region 2611 in the Eastern hemisphere. Decay was observed in both NOAA regions 2610 and 2611. There is only a slight chance for C flaring over the next days. Proton flux values were at background levels and expected to remain so. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in coronagraph data. The Southward extension of the Northern polar coronal hole, which in previous rotations extended over the equator appears, is now confined above 20 degrees North. The much smaller remaining positive polarity coronal hole on the equator, which was previously connected to the Northern polar coronal hole, will only transit the central meridian around midnight November 20-21.

Solar wind has not yet seen the expected increase due to the positive polarity equatorial coronal hole. Solar wind speed even further decreased to around a minimum of 300 km/s and currently is around 320 km/s. Total magnetic field remained in the 3-5 nT range with a slight increase to 6 nT at the end of the period. Bz was variable and the phi angle still in the negative sector. Today should see the switch into a positive sector and an increase in solar wind parameters under the influence of the positive polarity equatorial coronal hole.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (local K Dourbes 0-1 and NOAA Kp 0-2) and will become quiet to unsettled as solar wind speed increases.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 027, based on 09 stations.
