Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been low. No significant flares have been recorded. There are no significant Active Regions (AR) on the solar disk. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. A possible Earth directed CME was detected emerging from a region located at N01W35 on the solar disk at 02:39 UT on 05-Jul-2018, and was estimated to have a speed of 212 km/s from STEREO Ahead COR2 observations. Any Earth impact is expected to be negligible, but an approximate arrival will be in the morning of 10-Jul-2018. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours. The solar wind speed has remained around 430 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated around 10 nT. The Bz component has fluctuated between -8 and +10 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-5 (NOAA) and local K index 1-5 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Kp 5 was reached for a short period due to enhanced negative Bz, and some small fluctuations in the solar wind speed created by a small coronal hole and the subsequent solar wind enhancement. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 24 stations.
