Bulletin

During last 24 hours there were no C-class or even B-class flares reported. Since the Sun is still spotless, we do not expect the change in the level of the flaring activity in the coming hours. There were no Earth directed CMEs reported during last 24 hours and the solar protons remained at the background level.

The Earth is presently inside the fast solar wind associated with the equatorial coronal hole which reached central meridian on April 28. The solar wind speed is about 530 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude presently amounts 4 nT. The in situ observations indicated arrival of this fast flow starting from the evening of May 01. The maximum of the solar wind speed, of 580 km/s, was reported at about 09 UT today. The arrival of the fast solar wind induced longer interval of active geomagnetic conditions (local station at Dourbes and NOAA reported K=4 and Kp=4, respectively) at around midnight of May 01. We expect quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 18 stations.
