No active regions visible on the Sun. No flares observed, nor expected.

No Earth directed CMEs in past 24 h. Solar protons have remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is at 460 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field magnitude of 7 nT. The solar wind speed increased steadily since July 30 around noon, marking the (early) arrival of the expected high speed stream from a negative polarity coronal hole. With speeds close to 500 km/s and interplanetary magnetic fields up to 11 nT, active geomagnetic conditions were observed locally (K Dourbes = 4) and unsettled at planetary levels (Kp = 3). More active periods are possible in the next 48 h.
