Bulletin

The solar activity remained at low levels over the past 24 hours. There are two sunspot groups visible on the solar disc. Sunspot group Catania 37/N0AA-AR 2767, classified as alpha/Hsx, remained stable and moved towards S20W60. Sunspot region N0AA-AR 2768, previously classified as alpha/Hsx, is now classified as beta/Bxo and currently resides at N26E26. No significant flares were produced and the observed X-ray flux remained below C-class level. The solar activity is expected to remain at low levels over the next 24 hours.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux fluctuated between background and moderate levels and is expected to remain so the next 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours the solar wind parameters as reported by ACE and DSCOVR remained at very low levels. The total interplanetary magnetic field was very weak with values between 2 nT and 5 nT. The north-south Bz component fluctuated between -4 nT and 3 nT. The Phi angle had predominantly positive orientation. In the past 24 hours the solar wind speed remained at nominal levels typical for undisturbed slow solar wind, with values smoothly varying between 325 km/s and 380 km/s. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain quiet until the of the day and slightly enhanced on Aug. 2nd under the influence of a HSS originating from a recurrent positive polarity coronal hole (CH 64), which first crossed the central meridian on July 30th.

The geomagnetic conditions remained very quiet with maximum Kp-NOAA and K-Dourbes indices equal to 2. The geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet for the rest of the day and quiet to unsettled on Aug. 2nd under the influence of a HSS related to CH 64, which at present continues to partially reside on the central meridian.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 018, based on 20 stations.
