The solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours. The visible solar disc was spotless, and the X-ray flux remained below B-level. Flaring conditions is expected to remain at low levels.
No Earth directed coronal mass ejection has been observed. The greater than 10 MeV solar protons flux remained at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.
The solar wind speed ranged between 320 and 455 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total interplanetary magnetic field strength reached 8.7 nT for a short period on Feb 5 around 20.00 UT due to the passage of some background solar wind structures. The southward magnetic component fluctuated between -7.5 and 6.5 nT. Due to the extended and patchy shape of the coronal hole observed last week, the solar wind parameters may remain slightly enhanced within the next 24-hour period. The high-speed stream associated with the large patchy coronal hole that reached the central meridian on Feb 4 may start the enhance solar wind parameters on Feb 8.
The geomagnetic conditions were quiet with short periods of unsettled activity. The Kp index ranged between 0-3 (NOAA) and the local K index 0-2 (Dourbes). The conditions are expected to remain mostly quiet, unsettled conditions periods remain possible as the solar wind speed may still be slightly elevated (due to the extended and patchy shape of the coronal hole). Active conditions with short periods of minor storm is expected with the arrival of the high-speed stream associated with the coronal hole that reached the central meridian on Feb 4.
