The solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours. One small bipolar sunspot (Catania 72) has just emerged on the visible solar disc, however, no significant flaring activity was recorded. The solar activity is expected to remain at low levels over the next 24 hours with small chances of C-class flare from the newly emerged sunspot.
No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections was observed in the available coronagraph imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained under the 1000 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours, the solar wind speed decreased from 460 km/s to 400 km/s. The total magnetic field was around 5 nT and the Bz component ranged between -5.6 nT and 3.2 nT. The solar wind conditions are expected to return towards a slow solar wind speed regime the next day. A large equatorial coronal hole with negative magnetic polarity and located in the southern hemisphere is currently facing Earth. The high-speed streams associated with this coronal hole is expected to impact the solar wind environment near Earth in about 3 days.
The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were quiet with few short periods of unsettled condition. It is expected to remain quiet for the next day.
