Solar flaring activity was very low over the past 24 hours. The X-ray flux was below C level. A total of 6 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours. Solar flaring activity is expected to be low over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares likely.
A partial halo CME (angular width around 140 degrees) was first seen by LASCO C2 at 04:47 UT on 30 October. This CME is backsided and not expected to arrive to the Earth.
There are two coronal holes (SIDC Coronal Hole 123 and 128) on the western hemisphere and one that crossed the central meridian on 29 October (SIDC Coronal Hole 129), all with positive polarity.
Over the past 24 hours, we observed a high speed stream from SIDC Coronal Hole 123, combined with SIDC Coronal Hole 128. The speeds reached 550 km/s, currently at 500 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field rose to 13 nT (currently at 12 nT), with positive polarity (away from the Sun). We expect similar conditions in the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions reached minor storm conditions at planetary levels and (Kp up to 5- and K-Bel: up to 4). In the next 24 hours, active conditions can be expected.
The greater than 10 MeV GOES proton flux was below the 10 pfu threshold level over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux measured by GOES 18 and GOES 19 was below the 1000 pfu threshold. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to remain below the 1000 pfu threshold over the next 24 hours. The 24-hour electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to be at normal levels over the next 24 hours.
