Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been very low. The largest flare was a B5.3 class flare, produced by Active Region (AR) 2544 (Gro:Beta), which peaked at 12:23 UT yesterday. There are three other ARs on the Earth side view of the solar disk (AR 2542, AR 2543 and AR 2545). One returning region will appear at the East limb within next 24 hours. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. Solar protons have remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with a probability of C-class flares. The solar wind parameters variations returned to a nominal background level. The solar wind speed has decreased till approximately 350 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength remained stable with the magnitude varying between 4 and 6 nT. The Bz component remained also stable with the magnitude varying between +3 and -4 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-3 (NOAA) and local K index 1-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic activity is expected to remain low today and tomorrow. However on 15-May-2016 the Earth is expected to cross the solar sector boundary, the solar wind parameters may become elevated and associated active geomagnetic conditions can be expected.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 075, based on 19 stations.
