Bulletin

The solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours with X-ray flux remaining below C level. Catania sunspot group 86 (NOAA active region 2713) remained stable. A new relatively small sunspot (Catania sunspot group 87, NOAA active region 2714) has emerged yesterday. Quiet flaring conditions are expected for the next 24-hour period.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejection has been observed. The greater than 10 MeV solar protons flux remained at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.

The Earth is currently under the influence of the solar wind associated with the positive polarity coronal hole in the northern hemisphere that has passed the central meridian on Jun 15. The wind speed values fluctuated between 480 to 530 km/s, and is expected to start to decrease within the next 24-hour. The total magnetic field strength has slowly decreased from around 10 nT to its nominal values below 5 nT, while Bz component fluctuated between -5 and +5 nT. The enhanced solar wind conditions are expected to persist until while under the influence of the wind associated with the coronal hole.

The geomagnetic conditions have been unsettled over the past 24 hours due to the arrival of the solar wind associated with the coronal hole. Due to the ongoing enhancement of the solar wind, active geomagnetic conditions may be expected until the Earth is entering the slow solar wind speed regime.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 035, based on 17 stations.
