Bulletin

The solar activity was quiet over the past 24 hours. The unipolar sunspot region (Catania 37, N0AA-AR 2767) remained stable and did not produce any flaring activity. X-ray flux is below B-class level and the solar activity is expected to remain at low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at moderate levels over the past 24 hours. The electron flux is expected to remain nominal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.

The solar wind parameters (DSCOVR) were enhanced over the past 24 hours. The total interplanetary magnetic field fluctuated between 5 nT and 10 nT then decreased around 22:00 UTC and remained below 5 nT. The Bz interplanetary magnetic field component reached -8.5 nT around 21:30 UTC. The solar wind speed increased from 380 km/s to 400 km/s until 22:00 UTC, then remained 400 km/s for the rest of the period. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain slightly enhanced for the next day due to the influence of the equatorial coronal hole that reached the central meridian on July 19.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to active levels (Kp-NOAA and K-Dourbes indexes were equal to 4 during an isolated period from 21:00 UTC to 01:00 UTC) due to the enhanced solar wind condition and the Bz component reaching low values. Mostly quiet conditions are expected for the newt days with possible isolated period of unsettled conditions.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 21 stations.
