Bulletin

The solar activity remained at very low levels with no significant solar flares over the past 24 hours. The unipolar sunspot region Catania 37, N0AA-AR 2767 remained stable and moved to the south-western quadrant. The new sun spot group (N0AA-AR 2768), which rotated from the north-east limb yesterday, is now visible on the solar disc around N25E60 and has been classified as alpha/Axx. The observed X-ray flux was below B-class level. The solar activity is expected to remain at low levels over the next 24 hours. No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraph imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at background to moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. Over the past 24 hours the solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) remained at low level. The total interplanetary magnetic field was rather weak with values of 1-5 nT. The north-south Bz component fluctuated between -4 nT and 3 nT. The Phi angle remained mostly negative with several intervals of positive orientation.

In the past 24 hours the solar wind speed showed gradual decrease from 390 km/s to 320 km/s under the diminishing influence of the moderate HSS associated with the negative polarity coronal hole from July 23rd. Since 11:00 UTC this morning the solar wind speed started to increase, reaching values of 350 km/s. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain quiet over the next 24 hours.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet with maximum global Kp-NOAA and local K-Dourbes indices equal to 2. The geomagnetic conditions are expected to remain quiet over the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 020, based on 22 stations.
