Bulletin

The solar activity remained at very low levels over the last 24 hours. Sunspot group Catania 86 (NOAA 2814) showed low levels of activity and remained with a bipolar Bxo Beta classification. The flaring activity within the next 24 hours is expected to remain low with a minor chance for a C-class flare.

A faint slow partial halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was detected by LASCO C2 and C3 coronagraphs on April 13th. This CME is back-sided and will not impact the Earth. No other Earth-directed CMEs were detected in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2MeV electron flux remained under the 1000 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain in the next 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours all solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) remained at low levels. The solar wind speed gradually increased to 430 km/s. The total magnetic field reached a maximum of 7.5 nT with a minimum Bz component of -4 nT.

Quiet geomagnetic conditions were observed over the past 24 hours. Predominantly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours with a minor possibility for isolated unsettled periods. A small negative polarity equatorial coronal hole (CH) crossed the central meridian on April 13th. Sustained periods of unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions could be expected on April 16th if the high speed stream from this CH reaches Earth.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 020, based on 21 stations.
