Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA Active Region (AR) 2837 produced a long duration B6.8 flare at 1546 UT with an associated westward eruption, but has since decayed into a plage region. NOAA AR 2839 was inactive. NOAA AR 2840 was also inactive and is about to rotate over the west solar limb. Solar activity is expected to be very low over the next 24 hours, with a low probability of C-class flares.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to remain below this level during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so.

The Earth is currently under the influence of the slow solar wind. The solar wind speed varied between 300 and 350 km/s. The magnetic field was slightly enhanced with values up to 9 nT. The Bz varied between -6 and +4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was predominantly in the positive sector (directed away from the Sun). The solar wind conditions are expected to continue to reflect a slow solar wind regime for the next 24 hours, with a possible slight enhancement in the solar wind speed on Jul 09 due to the influence from a small positive polarity coronal hole that crossed the central meridian on Jul 06.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (NOAA Kp 1-2 and local K Dourbes 1-3) over the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled over the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 019, based on 18 stations.
