Bulletin

NOAA AR 1660 (Catania sunspot groups 70 and 71) continues to to grow and develop magnetic complexity (currently beta-gamma configuration of its photospheric magnetic field). We expect C-class flares from this active region. A low-latitude coronal hole in the southern hemisphere reached solar central meridian. The corresponding fast solar wind stream will probably arrive at the Earth on January 25, possibly resulting in active geomagnetic conditions. The Earth is currently inside a slow (around 320 km/s) solar wind flow with weak (around 3 nT) interplanetary magnetic field magnitude. We expect quiet geomagnetic conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 035, based on 08 stations.
