Catania sunspot group 40 (NOAA AR 1718) is the only group that produced C-class flares during the past 24 hours, all of them being below the C2 level. This sunspot group, as well as Catania sunspot group 43 (NOAA AR 1719), maintain beta-gamma configuration of the photospheric magnetic field. Together with two rapidly emerging sunspot groups in the south-east quadrant (Catania number 44 and another group that is still not numbered), these active regions are expected to provide flaring activity on the C-level. An M-class flare is possible but not very likely. The Earth is currently inside a slow (around 350 km/s) solar wind flow with average (around 5 nT) interplanetary magnetic field magnitude. We expect quiet geomagnetic conditions.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 096, based on 06 stations.
