Bulletin

Twelve sunspot groups were reported by NOAA today. NOAA ARs 2035, 2036, and 2037 (Catania numbers 24, 25, and 26 respectively) maintain the beta-gamma configuration of the photospheric magnetic field. Up to very recently, the strongest flare of the past 24 hours was the C4.8 flare peaking at 08:09 UT today in the NOAA AR 2036 (Catania number 25). The CME associated with this flare is narrow and is not expected to arrive at the Earth. The same active region just produced an M7.3 flare peaking at 13:03 UT. The currently available data do not allow us to determine if a CME is associated with this flare. We expect further flaring activity on the C-level, with a good chance for another M-class event. The Earth is currently inside an intermediate-speed solar wind flow (around 440 km/s) with a slightly enhanced (around 6-7 nT) interplanetary magnetic field magnitude. We expect quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions (K index below 4), with active conditions (K = 4) possible but unlikely.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 134, based on 17 stations.
