Bulletin

There are currently 5 sunspot groups visible on the solar disk, all having simple magnetic configurations. The only region that has been actively flaring over the last 24 hours, was NOAA 2065 which has rounded the west limb. It produced all 5 C-flares of the period, the strongest a C2.1 flare peaking at 16:07UT on 26 May. No CME was associated to this event. A CME at the west limb was observed starting at 21:48UT (CACTUS), probably associated to further low-level C-class flaring in NOAA 2065. This CME was not Earth-directed. Quiet flaring conditions are expected, with a small chance on a C-class flare produced by NOAA 2065 from behind the west limb. Solar wind speed decreased from 350 to 300 km/s, with Bz varying between +2 and -2 nT. The geomagnetic field was quiet. A small coronal hole that passed the CM on 25-26 May could influence the geomagnetic field starting 29 May. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet, though locally a brief active episode on 29 May is not excluded.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 056, based on 09 stations.
