Bulletin

Only B-class flares were reported during last 24 hours. The strongest reported flare was B7.2 flare (peak at 05:12 UT this morning) from the Catania sunspot group 33 (NOAA AR 2512). We expect solar activity to be low with a possibility for an isolated C-class flare in the coming hours (probability of about 30%). No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is still about 380 km/s. From about 20:00 UT on March 5, the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude started to slowly increase, coincidently with the smooth change of the phi angle and very small increase of the density. All this indicates possible arrival of an ICME. The magnetic field magnitude is currently about 20 nT and the Bz component was predominantly positive. If the Bz component of the magnetic field turns negative we can expect disturbed geomagnetic conditions. Since the solar wind speed is low we can expect unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions. Currently geomagnetic conditions are quiet.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 066, based on 16 stations.
