Bulletin

Quiet Solar weather conditions were observed. No significant flaring was observed and the background X-ray flux remained below C level. Catania group 59 (NOAA region 2532) showed diffusion while Catania spot 60 (NOAA region 2533) remained an unremarkable unipolar spot. Quiet conditions are expected to continue with X-ray flux remaining below C level. No Earth-directed CME's have been observed. Solar wind speed was in the 390-460 km/s range with total magnetic field showing initially a general downward trend but recently recovering to its initial value around 9nT. Bz and to a lesser extent the magnetic field phi angle were rather volatile. Solar wind conditions may somewhat increase with the expected influence of the transequatorial positive polarity coronal hole. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (both local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp 1-3). Geomagnetic conditions may see some active periods in the next 24-48 hours due to the expected enhanced solar wind conditions under the influence of the mentioned transequatorial coronal hole.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 021, based on 17 stations.
