Bulletin

The background X-ray flax has slightly increased to a low B-level. The only reported flare during last 24 hours was B1.6 flare, which peaked at 09:58 UT today. We expect low solar activity to persist in the coming hours. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The increase of the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude, and the fluctuations of the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field started at about 18:00 UT, yesterday. Simultaneously with the change of the interplanetary magnetic field, the increase of the density and solar wind speed was reported. All these indicates arrival of the fast solar wind associated with the equatorial coronal hole. The solar wind speed is about 480 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is presently 7 nT. The occasional short intervals of negative value of the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field resulted in disturbed geomagnetic conditions yesterday evening and early this morning (K=4 was reported by local station Dourbes and NOAA reported Kp=4). The geomagnetic conditions are quiet to unsettled and expected to remain so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
