Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2683 (Catania 57) had rotated over the west limb by the end of the period. It was the source of five B-class flares observed over the past 24 hours. The last B1.4 flare peaked at 03:24 UT today (09-Oct-2017). No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. Integral proton flux for protons with energies above 10 MeV remained at background level. Mostly quiet flaring conditions are expected. Solar wind speed gradually decreased from 450 till 360 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz fluctuated between -2.5 and +5 nT, being mostly positive. The interplanetary magnetic field was directed towards the Sun. The extension of a positive polar CH started its transit of the Central Meridian early on 07 October and may influence the earth environment around 10-11 October. The geomagnetic field was at quiet levels, both NOAA and local station at Dourbes ranged 0-2. Mostly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected, with a chance on an isolated unsettled interval.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 20 stations.
