Solar flaring activity is rather low. Catania sunspot group 78 (NOAA AR 2706) was source of several B-class flares during last 24 hours. As Catania sunspot group 78 continues to have beta configuration of its photospheric magnetic field, we might expect B-class flares and possibly also isolated C-class flares in the coming hours. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the coronagraph images. The solar protons continue to be at the background level.
Earth is presently inside the fast solar wind (speed of about 610 km/s) associated with the equatorial coronal hole. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 6nT. As the solar wind speed is rather high, together with the longer intervals of the Bz component of the IMF it might induce disturbed geomagnetic conditions in the coming hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 026, based on 24 stations.
