Bulletin

The Sun is spotless and produced no flares in the past 24 hours. The chance for a C flare in the next 24 hours is estimated at only 1%.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours.

The predicted high speed stream associated with a negative polarity equatorial coronal hole arrived near Earth around 02:50 UT on July 24. Solar wind speed as registered by DSCOVR rose from about 395 to a maximum near 570 km/s, with current values around 555 km/s. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) changed its orientation from away from the Sun to towards the Sun and its magnitude varied between about 1 and 15 nT, with current values around 7.5 nT. There were several short periods with Bz below -5 nT.

Quiet to active geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes between 1 and 4; NOAA Kp between 0 and 4) were registered in the past 24 hours. Active geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes = 4) are possible on July 24 and 25 due to the continued influence of the high speed stream from a negative polarity equatorial coronal hole, with a chance for minor storm intervals (K Dourbes = 5). A return to quiet to unsettled conditions (K Dourbes < 4) is expected on July 26.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 27 stations.
