Bulletin

Solar X-ray flux remained below B level. Active Region (AR) 2760 showed some further sunspot emergence, while newly numbered region AR 2762 showed signs of decay. The AR 2761 is now only a plage region. Solar flaring activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was between nominal and moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to be at nominal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.

The solar wind speed near Earth decreased from around 370 km/s to 270 km/s and the total magnetic field varied between 2 and 4 nT (DSCOVR) over the past 24 hours. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly oriented towards the Sun (phi angle in the negative sector. Bz was mostly negative, with a minimum value of around -3 nT. Nominal solar wind conditions are expected for Apr 30 - May 01. The filament eruption observed on April 27 that possibly had an Earth directed component may produce a slight enhancement in solar wind parameters at Earth on May 02.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp recorded values between 0-2 and 0-1, respectively). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for Apr 30 - May 01 with isolated unsettled episodes possible. The possibility of an active interval on May 02, due to a possible interaction with the eruption of Apr 27, is also not excluded.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 020, based on 28 stations.
