Bulletin

Solar activity was very low over the past 24 hours. NOAA Active Region (AR) 2822 (Catania sunspot group 93, mag. configuration Beta-delta) produced only B-class flares. NOAA AR 2823 (Catania sunspot group 94, mag. configuration Alpha) produced a B-class flare and continues to decay. NOAA expected region 2820 has a very simple configuration and did not produced any detectable flares. Solar activity is expect to remain very low over the next 24 hours with a small chance of C-class events.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so. The 24-hour electron fluence was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.

The Earth is currently under the influence of the slow solar wind. The solar wind speed ranged between 400 and 450 km/s over the past 24 hours. The Bz component fluctuated between -4 and 5 nT and the interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was negative (directed towards the Sun) during the last 24 hours. The solar wind conditions are expected to continue to reflect a slow solar wind regime for the next 24 hours. The gradual decrease of the solar wind is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (NOAA Kp 0-2 and local K Dourbes 0-3) over the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet over the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 025, based on 20 stations.
